The result here was that every newly qualified diver had a more experienced person with them. Those who have been members of the club and qualified some time ago had the chance to increase their experience and sign off some activities towards their next qualification.

The week leading up to trip saw dire weather and had this fallen at the weekend it would have no doubt been called off. However, as the week progressed the weather improved.

Driving up to Seahouses and the Farne Islands on Friday the 10th was clear as most departed the local area midmorning taking around 4 and half hours to travel the distance.

Staying at the Old School House Bed and Breakfast was a joy. This is by far the most comfortable accommodation booked for a dive trip away I have experienced. All rooms had en-suite shower rooms with WC, wash basin and clean towels. Breakfasts were excellent with normal Full English, toast and preserves.

Saturdays diving started grey and overcast and was bitter cold, but everyone put on their best brave face and plunged into the 8-degree water.

Completing two dives everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day returning to the Bed and Breakfast for an informal debrief, shower and snooze in the late afternoon sun.

Sunday started with more sun than the previous day which kept everyone a little warmer and provided a tan to most. Some had bright red noses.

Completing two dives again on Sunday everyone packed their cars and departed for Cambridgeshire. Will this be the last time we visit the Farne Islands, I doubt it.
